Glorifying God with Your Talents

When it comes to talent, there’s just a few things we could choose to do with it: throw it away, or use it for ourselves. But how often do we choose to solely glorify God with our talents? In fact, He is the one who gave them to us.

I have always struggled with this and still do very often. God has blessed me with multiple abilities, but am I utilizing every one of them for His will and glory? Or, am I wasting them and using them to boast in myself and win approval from others?

I love 1 Peter 4:10-11: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Chris. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.”

And it states in Colossians 3:23-24: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

I think so often we use our gifts entirely for our glory, for our fame. And then we desire satisfaction from pleasing people by showing off. We want to brag about what are able to do. We want fulfillment from others watching us up on that stage.

So in everything we do, let it point to Christ, let it glorify Him and Him only. Every time we use the talents He has given us, we are showing our love for our Creator. And when we are so in love with our Creator, we want to use every ability we have, all for Him!
